The single-engine plane crashed on the freeway near Buena Vista Ave around noon and went up in flames. The two people on board made a way to escape without any injuries.

California Highway patrol mentioned the plane was attempting to land at the Corona Municipal Airport and experienced a “possible engine failure,” forcing it to make an emergency landing on the freeway.

The aircraft was engulfed in flames as firefighters arrived on the scene. The plane hit at least one vehicle, a Toyota Tundra pickup truck, the CHP said.

Eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway were closed for several hours as authorities investigated the crash and removed the wreckage.
