It had been reported that 40 monkeys had escaped a research facility in South Carolina. According to CBS news reports these monkeys escaped from the Alpha Genesis Facility Thursday morning. This facility is dedicated to research and development support for the scientific community.

This location is a mere two hours away from Augusta, Georgia. Both state police departments must set traps to catch some escaped monkeys. They have also warned local civilians not to interact with these animals, as they will likely become hostile and violent to people they don’t know.

Police officers have warned residents of nearby communities to lock their windows and doors as a safety precaution. Both state police departments have also been ordered to set traps to catch some of the monkeys that have escaped. Small cameras are also installed in these traps to track the proximity of monkeys roaming.

Police have confirmed that 43 rhesus macaque primates have escaped, and no monkey has been captured. The majority of these monkeys are females weighing between 5 and 7 lbs. The Alpha Genesis facility plans to use food as a primary source to get the rhesus macaque primates back on safe grounds.
