WOMAN ACCIDENTLY SETS APARTMENT ON FIRE IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS ILLINOIS

At least three individuals were hospitalized, and many others were displaced after a significant fire broke out at an apartment complex in north suburban Arlington Heights on Tuesday evening.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene on the 2300 block of West Nichols Road in an unincorporated suburb. Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames shooting from the roof of the multi-unit building.

Tatiana Moore was cooking dinner on the stove for her two children when the fire suddenly engulfed her kitchen and spread to several other units. Charlie Sullivan, the building manager on the ground floor, had just finished his meal when he heard shouts for help.

Fire officials reported that five people were assessed on-site, and at least three were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Numerous agencies responded to the incident despite the frigid temperatures, with at least six fire and emergency medical service vehicles on the scene.

Sullivan stated that he and the six other families living in the building could not return home that night. Moore expressed that she has no home left to return to.

According to ABC7 News, American Red Cross representatives assist those affected. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
