CHICAGO POLICE CALLED TO DUNBAR HIGH AFTER GAME NIGHT FIGHT

A high school basketball game on Chicago’s South Side ended in chaos Tuesday night after a massive fight broke out inside Dunbar Vocational High School.

According to reports shared by ChitownCrimechaser-CCC, the disturbance happened at Dunbar High School near 30th Street and King Drive following a game against Bowen High School. Students say tensions escalated after several teens allegedly stepped onto the court and began exchanging words with Bowen players.

Moments later, fights erupted inside the gym and quickly spilled into the hallways, involving students, parents, players, and even coaches from both schools.

Chicago Police responded to multiple 10-1 “Officer Emergency” calls as the crowd grew out of control. SWAT was also called to the scene after reports surfaced of someone possibly having a gun inside the school.

Authorities were eventually able to regain control and made 2 arrests, according to NBC Chicago. There were also unconfirmed reports of shots fired near 35th Street and King Drive that may be connected to the incident.

The full extent of injuries, if any, has not yet been released. Police continue to investigate.
