A student at Tanner Elementary School in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood was hospitalized Wednesday after reportedly consuming an unknown substance before school began. Two other students declined medical treatment at the scene.
Principal Jacqueline Dillard told families that the incident happened outside of school grounds and assured that no prohibited substances were brought into the building.
According to CBS News, the student was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, while both Chicago police and CPS continue to investigate how the substance was obtained.
