FIRE BREAKS OUT IN RESTAURANT KITCHEN IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

A fire broke out last night at Wilma’s Famous BBQ & Tavern in Chicago. The fire in the kitchen of the restaurant, located on the second floor at 17 North Wabash Avenue, between Washington and Madison, around 7 p.m.

Authorities said the small fire broke out during the busy dinner hour, smoke quickly filled the Loop, which prompted immediate action from local firefighters.

The Chicago Fire Department activated a still-and-box alarm to mobilize additional equipment and manpower, resulting in a cacophony of sirens echoing through the streets of the Loop

According to ABC News, a couple of individuals were treated on-site for smoke inhalation, but fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. Paramedics were on hand to assess those affected by the smoke, ensuring their safety and well-being.

CTA’s Brown, Pink, Green, and Orange lines experienced delays due to the emergency response. Firefighters had to close some nearby roads temporarily to facilitate their operations, further impacting local traffic.
