TRUCK EXPLOSION IN CHICAGO WEST SUBURBS LEAVES DRIVER INJURED AND HOMES DAMAGED

On the morning of May 24, 2025, a Penske rental truck exploded on North Wood Dale Road in Addison, Illinois, due to a leaking propane tank.

According to CBS News, the blast damaged four homes and caused minor injuries to the driver. One house suffered serious structural damage and had to be evacuated.

Surveillance footage captured the powerful explosion, which scattered debris over two blocks. Emergency crews, including the ATF and local bomb squad, confirmed the blast was accidental. Penske stated hazardous materials are not allowed in their vehicles and is cooperating with authorities.

Cleanup is ongoing. Fortunately, no one else was injured.
